The 1997 Beginning

In 1997, our founder, Dan, opened the doors of The Trailer Store with exactly six trailers on the lot. We didn’t start with a corporate board or a massive marketing budget. We started with a belief that the hard-working people of Winnemucca and the I-80 corridor deserved a straight shooter who knew the difference between a cheap hobby trailer and a tool that could build a business.

The 2008 Pivot: When the Banks Said No

Our real "Master’s Degree" in the trailer business didn’t come from a textbook; it came during the 2008 recession. As the housing market cooled and traditional banks pulled back, we saw our neighbors—contractors, ranchers, and independent haulers—being shut out of the equipment they needed to survive.

During that time, the big banks turned their backs on us, too. The Trailer Store was saved by a microloan from a non-traditional source—a handshake and a show of faith from someone who believed in our work ethic more than a credit score.

The Birth of Our RTO Philosophy

That moment changed how we do business forever. We realized that if a non-traditional loan could save our business, a non-traditional financing path could save yours.
